Pot and Pan Wall

Been too busy/ lazy to write lately. Here is my lastest project:

Pot and Pan Wall! - we moved into an apartment with a much smaller kitchen than our house and between the wedding and the chef husband our kitchen is over flowing. Here is the inspiration for the project, found on pinterest : )

So I took Matt to Ikea and we searched for these, apparently they are upstairs, even though they also have kitchen stuff downstairs... The three bars, 20 hooks and two baskets cost $18!! Then we went to Home Depot to buy a stud finders and ended up also buying a "drill" - not really a drill just a power screwdriver. So we spent way more on supplies but we'll probably use them again...

Here is the semi-finished project. I want to hang some spice racks next to them since we couldn't center them because of the studs.

Still looking for a slip cover to finish my chair project... coming soon!

Little bit of this... Little bit of that...

I'm in need of some projects!! I've been pintresting a little too much and I'm ready to start a project, just haven't decided which one, and my project budget is pretty small : /   I'm really wanted to recover our old green chair and ottoman, but I need a sewing machine... We went to the local "Trade Days", there was a ton of cool antiques and junk that want, but I wasn't ready to commit. Here are some projects I want to do :
Large photo in an old window pane. Love this idea   love this set up  .

I finished reading The Time Travelers Wife last night and sobbed histerically, Matt thinks I'm crazy... It's such a good book : )   Now I'm starting Abe Lincoln, seems good so far, need to finish by this weekend so we can go to the movie!

I ran 3 miles yesterday, probably the slowest 3 miles ever, ugh. I really need to find something to train for, so I can be more motivated.
I took a two day class to get ready for my new job. Chemistry is pretty hard! I haven't really thought about any "General Chemistry" concepts since my first year of college. And I think teaching 6th grade made me dumb...

But I do love Chemistry : )

Books, Books, Books

Just finished reading What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. I REALLY liked it. I read it in just over 48 hours, its 422 pages... Probably the fasted I've ever finished a book, and I tend to abandoning a book before finishing it for another book, that I probably didn't finish either. So What Alice Forgot is about a woman, Alice, who wakes up from a head injury and can't remember the last ten years of her life. She thinks she still a newlywed pregnant with her first baby. I recommend this book for newly wed wives, makes me really appreciate how happy my marriage is : ) It's also a fun, easy read, perfect for summer. It was #4 this week on my favorite book club website.

Another great website I frequent when looking for books is goodreads.com. I like their list because it includes a mix of older books and trendy books. Plus I've read many of them so I feel like I can cross them off the list as accomplishments. http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/19.Best_for_Book_Clubs

At dinner we were talking about books we've read and enjoyed. My sis was coming up with ideas for a book she would write. Love the ideas!! If I were going to write a book what would it be about? A great non-fiction would be stories from my classes. But I really enjoy reading ficiton... hmmm... Maybe something Breaking Bad-ish about a high school science teacher who does something crazy, but probably not drug related...

How's book club going? It's not... I don't have a copy of our next book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and the movie comes out in 11 days. Oops. AND we still haven't got together to discuss Bossypants... whatevs

Next on my list:
  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
  • The Time Traveler's Wife (already read and LOVED this one!! Can't wait to re-read it!! If you haven't read it do it now!)
  • The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls (this one sort of stays at the bottom of my list all the time, people keep suggesting it, it pops up on my websites but I never actually get to it)
  • Teaching with Poverty in Mind by Eric Jensen
  • Front CoverFires in the Bathroom: Advice for Teachers from High School Students (Probably should have read this last summer since one of my students, my "mentee" no less, tried to start a fire in BOTH boys rooms at my school this year. Made no sense to me, I liked this kid, never had a problem with him other than typical 6th grade stuff)

Nothing a Grilled Veggie Sandwich Can't Fix

It's almost summer, so I am re-activating my blog : )

Today I got to work and 14 obstacles were put in my way to keep me from doing my job well, so basically it was a typical day... I was super grumpy during my morning classes and then Edler bursts into my room and announces we're going to lunch. I usually get a grilled cheese but today "aaaahhhhhh" I saw there was a grilled veggie sandwich on the menu - mushrooms, zucchini, squash and red peppers. DELICIOUS! This weekend I was really REALLY struggling with my pescatarianism. So many grilled meats... but I persevered : ) August first will be one year without any meat - just veggies and seafood.

My goals for the summer are:
  • Have an awesome time at my summer job
  • Train for another marathon
  • Absorb some vitamin D
  • Learn Spanish? maybe?
  • Blog : )
